  • Four states – Idaho, Nebraska, Oregon and Pennsylvania – are holding primaries today to select candidates for the November elections. In Pennsylvania, voters will cast ballots in new, court-ordered congressional districts and decide whether to back Rep. Lou Barletta (R), President Donald Trump’s pick to challenge Democratic Sen. Bob Casey in the midterm elections. (The Associated Press)
  • The United States and China are discussing a deal that would give ZTE Corp.a Chinese telecommunication-equipment producer that has been hampered by a U.S. ban on component sales to the firma reprieve from potentially damaging sanctions in exchange for China removing tariffs on U.S agricultural goods, according to people in both countries briefed on the talks. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said he is considering alternative punishments for ZTE and that his department would consider the question of easing penalties on the company “very, very promptly.” ( The Wall Street Journal)
  • First lady Melania Trump will likely be at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for the rest of the week following a surgery to treat “a benign kidney condition,” her office said. The president, who remained in the White House during her surgery, visited her in the hospital following a procedure in which the first lady’s office said there were no complications. (CNN)
