  • President Donald Trump’s administration asked the Supreme Court to reinstate his controversial travel ban before the end of the month. The request marks the first time the court will have to weigh in on a Trump initiative. (Bloomberg News)
  • Thirty states said they would press ahead with environmental policies meant to comply with the Paris climate agreement following Trump’s announcement that the United States would withdraw from the international accord. Many U.S. business leaders condemned Trump’s decision. (The Washington Post)
  • Former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey will testify publicly before the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 8. He’s expected to discuss news reports that Trump pressured him to abandon the FBI’s probe related to Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. (The Hill)
  • The White House told government agencies to ignore oversight requests from Democratic lawmakers, saying the administration’s policy is to “accommodate the requests of chairmen, regardless of their political party.” Republicans are concerned that the dissemination of any such information will be used against the president. (Politico)
