Washington Brief

  • Congress is set to vote today on a continuing resolution that would fund the federal government through May 5. Passage would avert a shutdown on Saturday and buy more time for negotiators to hammer out a longer-term spending bill. (Reuters)
  • House Republicans will not vote on their Obamacare-replacement bill this week, denying President Donald Trump a potential legislative win in his first 100 days. While conservatives are coming around to the plan, some moderates aren’t on board with the latest proposal. (Politico)
  • Trump said a “major, major conflict with North Korea” is possible over its nuclear and missile program, but he said he would like to see a diplomatic outcome. (Reuters)
  • More Americans trust Trump’s White House than they do the national political media, according to a new poll. Half of voters said the national media is out of touch with everyday Americans. (Morning Consult)
